RENAISSANCE OF CULTURE GHANA – NORTHAMPTON CONCERT

The “Renaissance of Culture Ghana” is a collaborative venture between the Ministry of Tourism Arts & Culture, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, on one hand, Zamba Tours based in Accra and Showbiz Europe, an Events Management Company based in the Netherlands on the other hand.
Media collaboration is from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GTV) and Diplomatic Affairs TV Show (Pan African TV).
“Renaissance of Culture Ghana” is borne out of the vision of the “Beyond the Return” programme which is the diaspora initiative succeeding the “Year of Return” programme which was not only to promote tourism and home coming of Africans and Ghanaians in the diaspora, but also to foster economic relations, investments and cultural cooperation with the African diaspora and related partners.
The programme involves planned concerts and cultural initiatives to be organized in the UK and the mainland Europe in 2022. The events will feature renowned Ghanaian musical artistes, cultural ensembles and public officials.

PROFILE OF PERFORMING ARTISTES

Amandzeba , meaning; th e Native Son, said the interesting thing about Ghanaian music is that our languages are very tonal and that he has transformed his vocal ability to sound very much Ghanaian. He said we speak and we find melody in our speeches and basically that was what he did with his song “Wogbe”.

 

Amandzeba is not only a legendary highlife musician but a great traditionalist. He upholds Ghanaian culture and tradition and this can be seen through everything

Paulina Oduro is a Ghanaian highlife musician actress talent show judge and a stage performer .

 

Miss Oduro has been in the entertainment industry for four decades and has contributed tremendously in music and television shows including Talented Kidz with TV3 ( television broadcasting network) which she has done for the past 12 years now She has performed and collaborated with great highlife legends like Paapa Yankson, Philip Owusu , Bessa Simons , CK Mann, Amakye Dede and many more.

Pat Thomas is a globally recognized Ghanaian vocalist and songwriter famed for his work in the highlife bands of Ebo Taylor, and with Marijata and the Three Beans during the 1970s. Between 1974 and 1996, he issued more than a dozen solo recordings of his own such as Stay There (1976), Asawa Do (1978), and Hitsville Revisited with Taylor and Uhuru-Yenzu, offering a unique take on highlife and Afro-pop. His cataloguee has been reissued more than once by a variety of labels. Thomas remains active in the 21st century. In recent decades, he has recorded and performed with the Kwashibu Area Band; in fact, his first internationally released set with current material was 2015’s Pat Thomas & Kwashibu Area Band on Strut.

 

Born in 1946 in Agona, in the Ashanti Region, Thomas almost literally had music in his DNA: his father was a music theory instructor and his mother were a bandleader. His uncle was none other than legendary Ghanaian guitarist King Onyina, who was not only renowned for his own recordings, but for his pioneering work with Nat King Cole.

The Cultural Dance Groups form an indigenous dance ensemble based in Ghana that is enjoying a successful affiliation of the State Protocol Department of the republic of Ghana. The groups have been in existence since the year 2000. From inception, every group member aspires to become one of the flagship dance groups in the global promotion of Ghana’s rich traditional dance, music and cultural heritage. The group members variously have had individual tutelage from key professional practitioners in the industry.

 

The Groups’ performances keep alive the conservation of the rich heritage of Ghana’s dance and traditional cultures. The groups undertake events schedules as affiliates of the State Protocol Office in relation to the following;

 

  • visiting foreign dignitaries
  • national day events
  • national day celebrations of various Embassies
  • local & social events; festivals, funerals, conventions, parties and sporting events, etc
